Come and see as in John 1:39 is a rabbinic answer like "come and hear" idiomatically for "pay attention" or "learn" to introduce a new insight, a traditional ruling, a case precedent, or a legal argument. When we understand scripture from its Hebraic foundation, we see things clearly and often the difficulties that we read on the surface are brought into focus.
